Oman is a beautiful country on the Arabian Peninsula. The landscape is rugged and barren in many areas, but the contrast of its pockets of lush oases is stark! Omani's are very careful with their water usage. There are systems of channels that divert the spring water from the mountains to carefully cultivated gardens. In some places, elevation and water availability enable the people to grow tropical fruits like bananas and papaya alongside the typical date palms.
