| The Corniche of Doha is a lovely place to walk in the late afternoon or very early morning. |

| The city offers some parking near the area. Immediately beyond the walled railing, the shore has been protected by heavy rocks secured with wired mesh. This prevents erosion and provides a stable shore. |

| Steps from the walkway to the water provide access for those who like to splash in the sea. |

| Just behind the walkway, the new city and its highrises beckon. |

| Viewed through the haze of heat and dust from the vantage point of the Corniche, the Museum of Islamic Art, in Doha, Qatar, appears to float on water. The Arabian/Persian Gulf surrounds it. Dhows frame the view from across the water. |

| The museum appears to be immediately on land. It is, however, surrounded by water and has bridge access to pedestrians (and authorized autos). |
